These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of DevoteMe (the “Service”), operated by Anchorlight Development (“we”, “us”, or “our”), including our website and our Android and iOS applications. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Post unlawful, abusive, harassing, hateful, or harmful content;
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation;
- Disrupt, attack, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service;
- Use the Service to spam or distribute malware;
- Infringe the intellectual property or privacy rights of others.
Community features are intended to encourage prayer, encouragement, and spiritual growth. We may moderate, remove content, or restrict access to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
4. User Content
You retain ownership of the prayers, reflections, comments, and other content you submit (“User Content”). By submitting User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and process it solely to operate and provide the Service. You are responsible for your User Content and represent that you have the rights necessary to share it.
5. Subscriptions and Payments
Certain features (DevoteMe Plus) may require a paid subscription. Prices and billing terms are presented at the point of purchase. Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are also subject to those platforms' payment and refund policies.
6. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, and content provided by us, is owned by Anchorlight Development and protected by applicable laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service except as permitted by these Terms or applicable law.
7. Scripture and Third-Party Content
Bible verses, devotional material, and other third-party content are provided for personal devotional use and remain subject to the rights of their respective owners.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Nothing in these Terms excludes guarantees that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Anchorlight Development will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if necessary to protect the Service or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
11. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia for any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service.
